A valid library card must be presented when borrowing items.
You can borrow up to 20 items (books, DVDs and CD-ROMs), with a maximum of:
- 10 books or DVDs/CD-ROMs from the textbook collection
- 10 books or DVDs/CD-ROMs from the main collection
Books and DVDs/CD-ROMs of the textbook collection can only be borrowed by students of the Medical University of Vienna.
The loan period for general medical literature is 28 days, 60 days for books from the textbook collection, 28 days for books from the branch-library for dentistry and 28 days for books from the Branch Library for the History of Medicine.
Overdue fines are charged if the loan period is exceeded. You will then be unable to borrow books, extend loan periods or reserve books. Once all items have been returned and all fines have been paid, your account will be reinstated.
In case of loss or damage, the account holder is obliged to cover the cost of a replacement copy (of the same or a more recent edition).
Please check for potential damage (such as annotations/markings) before borrowing items and report any such damage to the librarian on duty, who will make a note of it.
