To borrow items from the library, you need a valid Medical University of Vienna library card. This also applies to persons who hold a valid library card from another university.
The membership fee is 15 euros (library regulations) per year for persons not affiliated with the Medical University of Vienna, Vienna General Hospital or other educational institutions.
To apply for a library card please send the following documents, along with the completed registration form and your email address, to bibliothek@meduniwien.ac.at
You can also bring them personally and hand them in at the library circulation desk during our opening hours:

If you are a student of the Medical University of Vienna, your library card will be deactivated automatically after completion of your degree. If you wish to continue to use the library, your account needs to be changed to a different status (MUW/AKH-representative/staff, alumni, student of another institution, general user etc.). Please bring the necessary documents to the library circulation desk in order to change your status.

After your documents have been processed, your libary card will be issued. You will receive two automatically generated emails containing an activation code as well as a link to activate your MUW-Q-UserID. Please follow the instructions in these emails and set your personal password.
Notice!
- As a General user, please let us know immediately of any change of address, name or email address by bringing the certificate of registration to the library circulation desk.
- Students of MedUni Vienna can change the address data (delivery address, home address) at any time during studies using login data online in MedCampus.
- Members of MedUni Vienna should inform the Human Resources Department of any change of address, name or email address.
In the event of loss of a library card, the library account holder is obliged to report the loss to the Fundamt immediately and submit confirmation of this report to the Medical University of Vienna Library as he/she shall be liable for any misuse of their library card until the loss is reported. However, your library card can be deactivated before the loss is reported.
Misuse of a library card is punishable.
For the re-issue of a library card, the required documents have to be brought to the library again.
