The International Standard Book Number is a unique 13 (formerly 10) digit identification number for books and other (non-serial) publications.
The university library has acquired a contingent of 100 numbers for the Medical University of Vienna via the Hauptverband des österreichischen Buchhandels, a partner organisation of the International ISBN Agency responsible for the issuing of ISBNs.
ISBNs can be allocated to publications by members of the Medical University of Vienna. The university library manages the allocation process and covers the costs for this service. In return, four copies of the respective publication must be deposited with the library.
